PUBG Corporation announced its plans to return to India post its infamous ban in early September recently. Its answer is PUBG Mobile India, a specially made for India. But it shows like the Ministry of India is still not have idea about unbanning PUBG Mobile in India.
What is PUBG ?
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale (war) game which is launched by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole.
Why PUBG banned?
On September 2nd, the Ministry of Electronics and IT of India announced that 118 Chinese apps would be banned because they “are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, the security of state and public order.” The step was taken as complaints stating that these apps were stealing and sharing data with third parties and Chinese government whose servers were located outside India. With a user base of over 33 million at its peak, PUBG has suffered severely a big blow overnight.
PUBG Corporation Decision
Because of ban PUBG team has decided to decoupling the PUBG Mobile from Tencent, which is a biggest Chinese tech company and one of the world largest game publisher in the world.
PUBG Mobile India: clearness needed
Lately, the Korean company officially announced that they are going to re-launch PUBG Mobile India, a new game designed keeping then Indian culture. Additional the data storage cover, it also conduct regular audits and validation on the storage systems to make sure that the Indian users(PUBG user)’ personal data is safely managed.
PUBG New Features
For Newbies, the new game will be set in a virtual simulation training ground. All characters may also start clothed in the Indian culture. To encourage healthier gameplay habits and to control high usage time in PUBG Mobile India, the game also provided a feature that can restrict user extended sessions.
It is also shows to create a local video game, entertainment culture around the related IT services. This will introduced in the form of PUBG Corporation creating an subsidiary to better serve and engage the gamer. Over 100 employees will be hired across verticals such as business, eSports, and game development.
Hard To Unban PUBG
Despite the more effort on the part of the PUBG mobile it looks the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) will not be compromise yet. Based on report by the Times of India, a source in the Ministry commented, “Unless they address the concerns, it will be difficult to grant any relaxation.”
Krafton is the parent company of PUBG Corporation, also planned to invest $100 million in India to process the new unit. This is considered as the largest investment which is made by a Korean company, apart from manufacturing industry.
